ReadyNas Duo 102 no longer sending out mails (firmware 6.10.8)

Hi,

My system emails (to notify me when system shutdown for example, as I power down my system for a few hours each night) stopped working after Google removed the ability to send out emails from less secure apps last year.

For other devices, I have been able to use Google's App password, but this doesnt seem to be working for my Ready Nas DUO 102 (running firmware 6.10.8 - which is latest/current firmware for this product).

Any simple step by step guidance would be greatly appreciated as I am presuming App Password must work here as well.

Under alerts, it currently shows me that email service to send alerts is configured properly (see screenshot) but then it errors when I click on send message.  I'm presuming the message that email service to send alerts is configured properly is related to when it was working fine (prior to Google's change in terms).

Look forward to your help

  • From is undoubted a form field (if not using the generated keys). But of course it has to be a valid email address for the email sender.

In case you used the access token generated before, use the [Clear] and enter the details again, including the dedicated App password generated. And don't forget to tick the [x] Use TLS, too. Works like a charm since about 2019 since Google does enforce App passwords.

schumakuMany thanks for your guidance .. it now works 🙂

Once I "cleared" the previous details, the Google button was enabled and I just had to log into my google account and it set everything up automatically (as shown below)

Is there a way to change the "From" field to read something like "NAS 1", as I have 2 of these and would like an easy way of identifying which alert is for which device?

All the fields are greyed out and not open for editing.  If I sign out and generate an App password for this device and manually enter all the values, and specify "NAS 1" in the from field, then I get same error as previously.  Isnt the from field simply a label?   Thanks.
