ReadyNAS Duo and WD10ears
I just want to share this information with you guys, and because chirpa told me to!
Anyway, I work at a computer store and a customer wanted to buy a Readynas Duo. So we went to the compatibility list and saw that WD10EARS is compatible, after testing this out with 2 units and 4 drives I can say that this no longer is true.
All of the drives are of the MDL: WD10EARS-00MVWB0
Pictures of the drives (about 1 MB each) http://failtality.se/readynas/
The leds blink and I get an error saying something like "corrupted root", the error is in swedish and I couldn't seem to find a good translation. Get the same error with either 2 drives or 1 drive in either slot... If I remove them it says no drives found, so it seems to be a compatibility issue
The unit works with 2x WD5000AAKX

- chirpaLuminaryThanks. Will let the QA guys know to review this.
- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredIs this with 4.1.7 or older firmware?
Have you tried a factory reset? - ficklampaAspirantThis is a brand new unit with 4.1.7 on it. It works just fine with 2xWD5000AAKXX but as soon as I put in one of the WD10EARS it starts blinking ACT and DISK 2 (or if it's 1?) LEDs and I get an error in RAIDar with like "corrupted root" or similar.
Have not tried factory reset since it didn't work straight out of the box... And after trying four WD10EARS with the same errors I tried the WD5000AAKXX and it works straight away
