Readynas Duo RND2000 Won't Boot

It is a v1. Unfortunately, I am not sure what firmware is installed on the unit. I do have a Windows PC.
I actually installed a LInux VM on the pc. I was able to see the hard drives and certain folders on the
hard drive but really don't know how to use VM. I was able to copy the folders onto th PC but when
I opened the folders on the PC, they were empty.
