ReadyNAS Duo v1
Hello,
I have an old ReadyNAS Duo v1 with 2 1tb drive set to raid 0. I'm looking to upgrade it, cost appropriate. I'm wondering if there is something around i can just pop the drives into with out losing any of the media on them ?

The only thing you could just pop the drives in that has larger capacity is an NV/NV+, so you could add up to two more drives (up to 2TB each). You'd be buying a used product that's as old as your Duo.
To me, that makes no sense to do, but it's the only option. With Netgear now out of the NAS business, there's no Netgear product I can actually recommend.
Given your NAS is working, you're much better off purchasing a new NAS from some other company and just transfer the files from the Duo to the new one using backup jobs. Given you are using RAID0, so not taking advantage of redundancy RAID offers, you could also look into a simple USB drive to connect to your router, if it supports that.
BTW, two drives in RAID0 in a NAS puts your data at a far higher likelihood of loss than a single USB drive. Failure either disk means you lose everything, and failure of the NAS hardware could also cause you to lose it.

So I can not just drop the drives into a new NAS, your solution seems very long winded and costly as I would need new drives + new NAS caddy.

There is no compatible new NAS. Netgear stopped manufacturing compatible ReadyNAS back in 2011. Another thing to consider is the age of your drives.
Do you actually need a NAS?
If not, you could just copy all your files over the network to storage connected to your PC. 4 TB isn't much storage by modern standards.
