First - all the ReadyNAS products have had NFS and rsync for years. There was no update that killed functions on a ReadyNAS. The v2 versions of Duo and NV+ were new products with a different processor than any of the other existing models. As such they developed a new version of RAIDiator for that platform and it is the 5.3.x editions. Version 5.3.1 was the first release and the current version is 5.3.4 that was released on March 22. The 5.3.x editions have never activated rsync. The 4.1.x edition is for the sparc based units now discontinued (current version 4.1.8 ) and the 4.2.x edition is for x-86 based units which are the majority of the products offered. The current version is 4.2.19 released last September.
It is not a question of disabling rsync, it had never been enabled.
