ReadyNas Duo v2 Firmware compatibility with WD30EZRS
Hi all, new here, so forgive me for asking a question already answered somewhere.
I've just bought a RND2000-200 ReadyNas Duo v2 and awaiting on shipping. Kinda exciting :)
Looking for a some HCL compatible hard disks, and the HCL says the Western Diginal Caviar Green WD30EZRS model is compatible, butwith a note that says "Must be used with 4.2.16 or newer firmware".
What's confused me is that there a recent anouncement for RAIDiator 5.3.4 (ARM) for the Duo v2. Why would the HCL refer to the 4.x.x branch of firmware? Isn't that for the x86 and 5.x.x branch for ARM, or was there a v4.x.x branch for the ARM too (perhaps my new one being delivered from the factory will have it)?
What my question boils down to is: does the "greater than 4.2.16" statement therefore include anything running the 5.x.x branch and so the WD30EZRS disk would still be HCL compliant? The reason I ask is because I know some vendors treat major code branches differently and "greater than 4.2.16" might just mean only on the 4.x.x branch. I suppose if that were true in this case, the HCL would be wrong for the Duo v2?

- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredThat note is just relevant to x86. All ARM firmwares support 3TB drives.
- HuggaAspirantI thought that was the case, I guess the note is attached to the drive info in the HCL rather than the actual NAS model, so selecting the model from the HCL radio button list on the web page doesn't really show you specifics to the NAS. It might be less confusing to newbies if the note said something like "Must be used with 4.2.16 or newer firmware when used with Radiator x86 NAS devices".
Anyway thanks for the quick reply.
