ReadyNAS Duo
I picked up a second hand unit above and am having trouble connecting ou to my local network. I get the screen which states no debvices found. Ho=wvere if I connect directly via its ip address I can set shares and change password but thats it.
I am using Windows 10 Pro and the Raidar utility which finds it but i cannot access the ReadyNas?

Frankly, you made a huge mistake. That NAS is very much out of date and starting now with one is just asking for problems. It does not support TLS above 1.0, which Windows will now not allow, nor does it support anything above SMB1, which is normally disabled in Windows now but can be enabled.
There are work-arounds posted in the forum for these issues. But to start now with a 15+ year old NAS with these issues is just not something you should consider. Even those who have had their units for some time and want to keep them a little longer should looking to upgrade before the work-arounds stop working.
- dairoberAspirantThanks for your reply however I am on a very tight budget and wanted to get this simple NAS up and running. I wonder could you help me as I am a novice in the NAS world as you can see?
Many thanks

(1) The first is that you need to use a browser that allows TLS 1.0 connections. Most don't. If you have internet explorer on the PC, try using that.
If not, install firefox, and change the security settings.
- Enter "about.config" in the browser address bar.
- Search for security.tls.version.min
- Set security.tls.version.min to 1
Then browse to https://nas-ip-address/admin (using the real NAS IP address of course) There will be security warnings that you will need to click through.
Once in, see if you are running 4.1.16 firmware. If you aren't, then update it.
If you manually download from the link above, you need to extract the firmware image from the zip file (you can't just install the zip).
(2) The second thing you need to do is go into "turn windows features on or off" and enable the SMB 1/CIFS client.
