ReadyNAS NV+ - Received "Access to the disk on channel (??)"
Hello. I believe I need to replace a disk and would like to confirm that disk 4 is the likely suspect. The error message could not confirm the channel error.
I have four 2TB WD20EARS - 00MVWB0 drives in a ReadyNAS NV+ running Raidiator 4.1.10. They have been running ~1.5 years and were manufactured 2012-10-27. I know at the time I bought and installed them they were on the HCL, but no longer seem to be.
I received the error message: "Access to the disk on channel (??) is producing I/O errors. Although the array is still redundant, please replace this drive as soon as possible, as it is likely to fail soon.
The following is the SMART information results. I believe disk 4 is the issue due to the very high Multi-Zone Error Rate. 19477. However, if there are those on the forum that can help confirm, I would very much appreciate a second set of eyes on this. Too, any thoughts if I should be able to get a refund on this as I thought the warranty on these drives is 2 years?
If this drive is the one in error, I wanted to know if either the WD20EARX Caviar Green or the WD20EFRX WD Red would be the more recommended drive. I have access to a WD20EARX relatively quickly. I would likely have to order the WD RED and it would take a few days. Price is also a bit more expensive for the WD Red. However, I have read the that the WD RED may be a better long-term drive for the NAS. Recommendations from the forum?
Last thought/question. I bought and installed all four drives at the same time. Hence, concerns I should have regarding failures on the others?
Thanks.

- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserDrive 4 is likely the culprit, though if you have a USB drive connected it conceivable could be that.
Red drives are definitely better for RAID use than the Green. They also have a longer warranty. - beichstAspirantThanks StephenB. The only items I have connected to the USBs at this time are the printer and the UPC. I am assuming those would not trigger this particular error, so that points back to Disk four.
