ReadyNas NV Dead #24190256
Hi
I have a ReadyNAS unit that has done many years of service, but now it seems the power supply is dead.
I assume there is nothing else it could be?
So how do I move the disks into another unit? Which will be a new ReadyNAS something model and I am assuming it won't be as easy as plugging in the disks?
Thanks
Phil

- X2PBCAspirantIf I go down this route would a RN10400 Readynas 104 work ?
One of those and 2 x 3TB external USB drives or can PC connected disk work?
Thanks
Phil - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredThe RN104 should work, yes. I would prefer the RN314 however.
The data can be backed up to USB disks connected to the NAS or to disks connected to your PC. Either way should work. With the 104 my preference would probably be USB disks connected to a PC and shared from there.
Were you using X-RAID or Flex-RAID? - X2PBCAspirantI was using X Raid
- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredIf the array is fine, you could use an ordinary x86 Linux PC to recover your data: http://home.bott.ca/webserver/?p=306
- X2PBCAspirantI have just been told I am entitled to a replacement PSU and support are going to send me one, which is excellent news and excellent service.
Phil - X2PBCAspirantNew PSU unit arrived, fitted and now all is working
Thanks everyone for the support. Now to sort out a backup strategy for the 2 NAS units :-(
