ReadyNAS NV+ Upgrade Firmware
I have two old ReadyNAS NV+ devices. Each has 4x2TB disks. Firmwares are:
RAIDiator 4.1.14 [1.00a043]
RAIDiator 4.1.9 [1.00a043]
Some questions:
1. What is the OS for these? Microsoft says that ReadyNAS version OS6 and less use SMB1, which I want to eliminate from my networks.
2. What is the latest firmware for these, and can I go straight there or do I need to do it in stages? Where would I find the release notes for these firmwares?
Thanks,
Headcrash

4.1.16 was the final release. You can find it here: https://kb.netgear.com/000038792/RAIDiator-Version-4-1-16-Sparc
As far as release notes go, you can find them by googling "RAIDiator-version-4-1" site:kb.netgear.com
You can upgrade both NAS directly to 4.1.16. Unzip the package in the link, and upload the firmware image via the admin web ui.

Personally I am ok with the accepting risks of SMB1 on a home network, but obviously that's an area where people will disagree.
ReadyNAS OS6 supports SMB 3, and you can disable SMB 1 on it - so your information there isn't quite correct.
But you can't install OS6 on your very old NAS - and they can only run SMB 1.

Thanks, StephenB, great answers.
Here's another question I forgot to ask. How can I ssh into the box and can I sudo? I'm pretty good at not bricking things but I accep the risk. I tried ssh on 22 but it rejected me.
Download the "Enable Root SSH Access" add-on here: https://kb.netgear.com/24546/Add-ons-for-RAIDiator-4-1-3-Sparc and install it from the add-on page in the admin web ui.
Log in as "root" (not admin), and use the NAS admin password. You won't need sudo.
