ReadyNAs NV+v2 - can I expand storage with bigger discs?
I have a ReadyNAS NV+ v2 fitted with 4 x 3TB WD discs. It works fine, but I want to increase the storage space. I notice that no larger discs are on the compatability lists. Is this because the ReadyNAS NV+ v2 has gone end-of-life? Or is there something fundamental with the file system? I vaguely remember reading a discussion which mentioned a 16TB limit. Can I increase my storage by using 4TB or 5TB discs? And if so would I need to do a complete restart with the four new discs, or could I just let the machine do the expansion by replacing the existing discs one-by-one?

There are two limits. One is that a volume cannot grow more than 8 TiB from its starting point.
The second is that you can't expand over 16 TiB.
On the X86 legacy NAS, you can create a volume > 16 TiB by doing a factory install with all disks in place. All the disks need to be the same size (since if they aren't, there is an expansion step needed). I don't know if that will work with the v2 or not.
