ReadyNAS RN214 not showing correct disc size

I have a RN214 and had 4x6TB drives and have updated 2 of those to 12TB as was running out of space. However it now only shows 21.81TB size with 5.64TB free space and was expecting more

Looks like the correct size of the drives is not showing. It is set on X-RAID - Raid 5. Any suggestion would be great. Thankyou

The capacity rule for single redundancy is "sum the drives and subtract the largest".  So 2x12TB+2x6TB yields 24 TB of capacity.

The NAS reports size in TiB (units of 1024), not TB (units of 1000).  24 TB is the same as ~21.8 TiB.

So nothing is wrong, and you are getting the correct amount of space.

  • Dear Stephe,

Many thanks and appreciate the explanation.

    All the best.
