Readynas ultra 2 update problem

On October the first My readynas ultra 2 couldn't get updates for the virusscanner and it wasn't possible anymore to get updates. Also no apps are available and the updates that are running aren't accesable anymore.

If i want to update i got the message hostname not solvable.Communication failure check your internet connection, dns- or proxyconfiguration.

Has something changed at Netgear and if i reset the Nas to its factory settings have i lost all the shares because the settings were deleted.

Can someone tell me more in English or preferably in Dutch because that s my native language.

Thank you.

Correct.  The AV software is ClamAV.  Netgear provided and distributed the version used by ReadyNAS.  That version is outdated,  and ClamAV no longer provides definitions for it.  All ReadyNAS are end-of-life, and Netgear told me that they have no plans to update their ClamAV software.  Note you cannot install the package from ClamAV directly.

While that is the error, the problem is that Netgear shut down their update server.  The newest firmware is 6.10.10.  That is probably the final firmware.  If you are running something older, you can update manually (getting the x86 firmware from kb.netgear.com).

Yes, you would need to restore all your data from a backup if you do this.

A reset will NOT fix the two problems you have.  There is no fix for them.

Thank you Stephen B, a quick response to all my questions. I think i need to invest in a new Nas.

I have the latest 6.10.10 firmware thats alright but the rest sucks.

  • I think i have to disconnect my Readynas to from the internet because since the virus updates were terminated  ive got the old problem back which will show in the picture. Only use it as a storage on my internal network.
