StephenByes thats my point as well. The device is relative old and RAM wasn´t that cheap as its the situation at the moment.
Any advices which RAM would work in the ReadyNAS Ultra 4 (RNDU4220)?
Orginally the device seamed to have a "1GB DDR2 SO-DIMM". According to the forum here (https://community.netgear.com/t5/ReadyNAS-Hardware-Compatibility/upgrade-memory-readynas-ultra/td-p/806953) the chipset would support 4GB via 2 slots. However as the U2 has only one slot a 2GB DIMM seamed to be the max.
Can anybody recommend a working DIMM?

I believe that, like the Pro2, it's limited to 2GB. Just get something with a speed at least as high as the original. I've not found the ReadyNAS (save the original SPARC NV/NV+) to be especially picky about RAM.
