ReadyNAS ultra 6 can't access web interface

I have a readyNAS that I did not initially purchase or set up but I am managing. I am able to access a share that is mapped to it with an old password/username, I am able to ping it, I am able to use it for backups still, but I cannot log into the web interface. When I attempt to enter the IP or hostname it returns that it refused to connect or that it cannot be displayed.

I would like to be able to access some sort of management interface for this device without wiping any data or resetting anything preferably. Is this going to be possible? I haven't even tried to power cycle the device yet, any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks.

You might get some useful status information from RAIDar (https://kb.netgear.com/20684/ReadyNAS-Downloads )

If your company purchased the NAS new, you could use paid Netgear support via my.netgear.com.  You might need to jump through some hoops, if the person who registered the NAS is no longer at your company.

Try http://nas-ip-address/admin first.  http://nas-ip-address won't take you to the management inferface, and it likely will fail if http is not enabled as a file-sharing protocol.

If that still refuses to connect, then I'd try power-cycling.  There is a clean shutdown procedure on page 28 of the hardware manual here: http://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/RNDU2000/ReadyNAS_Ultra_UltraPlus_NVX_Pro_HW_en_8July11.pdf  BTW, if you don't have the software manual, you can find that at  http://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/RNDU2000/ReadyNAS_Business_SW_05Nov13.pdf

It is possible to access the NAS in tech support mode via telnet, though I don't recommend that if you aren't reasonably skilled with the linux command line interface.  It would give you some clues on what's going on - in particular you could see if the 4 GB OS partition is full (and clean it if that's the case).

Thank you for the reply. I did get RAIDar to run and it does see the device. All the lights are green, it seems everything is in good shape according to RAIDar. But when I click setup it tries to take me to the admin page and I get the same response. The page cannot be displayed. I've tried http: https: with the /admin without /admin no luck. I guess I will try power cycling it and see what happens.

I've done some telnetting in the past, not sure what commands I'd run once I telnet into the thing though. I'll give the reboot a shot and let you know what happens. Thanks.
