I have the old model listed where I changed all 6 original disk with 6x2Tb WD red. All of them configured as X-raid in one volume. I had two folders on the volume.
OS was raidar 4.2.31, being out of warranty I decided to upgrade it to Os6 even if I saw it was not supported by netgear. I did a back up of all my data (at least I thought) and started upgrading. It was succesful, I had my nas back, running on Os 6. A new volume created, as before X-raid. I was preparing to copy my data back and I sadly realized that I backed up only one of my folders, not the second one.
What I lost are picture files, all cr2 and jpg.
I didn't used any more the Nas since there, is there any chance for a recovery, even a low level scan or don't know what, also with a specialist service from netgear?
Thank you in advance for who may help.
Regards
Oscar

You said you updated the disks. Did you
- remove all the old disks
- insert all the new disks
- install OS 4.2.31
- convert to OS-6
If not, can you detail the steps (particularly the disk updates)?

1) I had 6x1Tb os 4.2.31 one volume x-raid, two folders on it with data
2)Using x-raid functionality I changed disk one with a 2Tb, waited for rebuild
3)Using x-raid functionality I changed disk two with a 2Tb, waited for rebuild
same process till all 6 disk changed and rebuild done.
then
1)I had 6x2Tb os 4.2.31 one volume x-raid, two folders on it with data
2)Upgraded to os 6, due to upgrade I had to recreate a new x-raid volume
3)I realized I had a backup for only one folder (on other nas) and I shut down everything
So I don't know if I can recovery something from my old 1Tb disks or if I can recovery something from the latest configuration I have
Hope now is clear.

You can try a product like ReclaiMe to see if it can recover anythng from the old or new drive sets, but I wouldn't get your hopes up. It's expensive, but the free version does let you see if it'll work for you before you buy.
