Regretted buying the ReadyNAS
H'm I thought I already posted some comment here but it's gone.......
We own a readyNAS Pro and to be honest, I really regretted buyin this piece of $%#%#%$
Why?
It's unstable, the web interface is from the 16th century, very slow not able to show the information you want to see. We have defined the auth against our domain. The name field in the screen from the NAS interface has only room for 12 chars or so and all I see for all users is NASNAS/ and I have to scroll every name field to the right find out was is display behind NASNAS/
I created today a new group & user in our AD and was hoping the NAS would see this new group and user. Wrong! (I gave it 2 minutes), nothin at that point so I decided to refresh the AD on the NAS. Result all users must reboot their pc to get their shares back.
The backup software really sucks. You just have a few thing you can change and it's not possible to email the complete backup log (concerning to the ReadyNAS) message, the log is to big.
If there went something wrong during a backup, you will not now what the reason was before going to the whole log.
It's does not give you warnings when for example a backup job is running and a chkdsk was scheduled. The backup just will be interupted to let the chkdsk run first.
Disconnection an external attached USB drive? Pray you box won't stall!
RadyNAS? Nice box for at home but certainly not for business!
