May 08, 2017You could also go for a used one to work together with those three being already there. In this case ask the seller for the following parameters:
- Start/Stop count
- PowerOn hours
- Power cycle count
- Load cycle count
- Health data (errors)
To get an idea about acceptable values for your case just check the properties of the remaining disks in your nas by going to the webadmin page. On the tab /system/performance use the mouse to hover over one of the healthy disks and scroll down to the end of the displayed information. Your "new" disk should not be far above or below the values you see there.
Advantage with this approach:
- cheaper disk
- better fit into existing environment
