replacing some of the disks inserted to ReadyNAS NV+
I have older ReadyNas NV+ model RND4000.
They came with 4x750 gig drives. I called Netgear and they said I could upgrade my drives to 2TB each and recommended the following number

Start by posting the firmware you are running now. RAIDar can see it, and you can also see it on the home page of the admin web ui.

Ok, that's the problem. You are running ancient 3.x firmware, and that doesn't handle 2 TB drives. You'll need to upgrade to 4.1.15.
That's a big jump - I recommend manually downloading 4.1.8, and installing that first. Then after that completes, do a factory reset. Then upgrade to 4.1.15.
The factory reset is because Netgear changed the disk partitioning in 4.1.7 to improve performance with larger drives. You need to do a reset to take advantage of that change.

You'll need to extract the binary image from the zip file before uploading it.
sounds great, thanks so much! one last question... i've two of these systems running and one of them i don't want to mess with. will upgrading the firmware effect both or only the one i direct it to?
