Readynas RN 104 fails flashes when disks inserted
So today the drive stopped working and went into safe mode, I pushed the power button and it turned off but when it re-started it says there were no drives installed and had to connect with the default user/password.
Took disks out, hoovered etc and re-booted, this time intermittent flashing on the lcd pannel, the light on the power brick etc. If I take the disks out it boots ok, but with any of the 4 disks inserted it fails to boot now.
Suspect the unit is close to dead but disks should be ok. Data isn't too valuable but would be nice to get it back. Do you know if I can just throw the disks into a new RN214 (if I can get one) and it would work?
It sounds like a power issue. The spin-up of the drives is overloading it. It could be the power brick itself (because the LED on it shouldn't ever flash) or one of the internal voltage regulators/converters, which are non-repairable.
