Replication

I have a client who has two homes. He wants to be able to run his business from either location and also have music collection available at both.

Is there a minimum download speed that is recommended?
One home is on Comcast with downloads in the range 20-30 mb/sec.
The other home has only 4 mb/sec download. Uploads are a fraction of these accordingly.

Will we have any chance of running replication between 2 ReadyNAS 314 units in this environment?

Thanks for any suggestions/comments

  • Replicate is a uni-directional backup system, it does not synchronise 2 units in a bi-directional way. I think this may not be what you need to achieve what you want.
    Look at Egnyte.
  • Excellent point. Thanks for the clarification, you keep me from running down a wrong path.
  • HI Tillster2,
Did you get a chance to look at Egnyte? As Vandermerwe correctly mentioned, Egnyte helps in performing a bi-directional synchronization of files between one or more ReadyNAS314's (in your case) and the cloud. So, new files added on one ReadyNAS 314 unit will show up in the other.
For further information about Egnyte with ReadyNAS, check out:

You can even test-drive Egnyte for a free 15-day trial over here:

    Good luck!
