RN 102 Corrupt root don't want to lose data

I have been using the my RN 102 for a while now and just recently I can not access it and I get in RAIDar Corrupt Root. I tried to do the OS -reinstall becasue I do not want to lose my data. I tried ...

If your data is backed up, then a factory reset is probably the quickest way. You'll need to reconfigure the NAS and then restore all data from backup.

If your data is not backed up:

If you only have 1 disk installed, then contact support (they likely will charge, and if data recovery is required it will be expensive).

If you have 2 disks installed, then power down the NAS, and remove disk 1, then power up. If it fails to boot, then contact support.

If it does boot, then I'd suggest backing up critical data before you do anything else. If you have a windows PC, then download vendor diags (seatools for seagate, lifeguard for western digital) and test disk 1. If it passes, try zeroing the drive, and then insert it back into the NAS (while the NAS is running).

Hello KANN,

Welcome to the community!

Stephen is right, RN102 is an OS6 NAS, the firmware you mentioned is for OS4 units.

Corrupt Root is a problem on root partition. Sometimes caused by a faulty disk.

Please see ReadyNAS OS 6: Corrupt root & Used disk error messages if you are really using ReadyNAS 102 unit.

If you are using one of the legacy units, hopefully you have full backup of the files because you can easily factory reset the NAS with the disks inserted so it will reformat the disks and recreate the volume. If none, like StephenB mentioned, you may need to get to support center, they will require a fee for data recovery service.
