RN102 and Samsung 850 Pro 256GB 2.5-Inch SATA III Internal SSD

I would like to buy a ReadyNAS RN102 with 2 SSD Samsung 850 Pro 256GB 2.5-Inch SATA III. Are they compatible?

Thanks in advance.

  • They should work, but they aren't on the compatibility list (http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/20641).

Netgear is likely to deny support if you use them (unless they are added to the HCL later).

SSD disks will be snappier for browsing folders with lots of files, though for large file transfers the RN102 is limited by its relatively slow CPU.

Not to mention limited by the NIC throughput as well.

True with all NAS of course.

Though the RN100 series never reaches the NIC limit (at least not with spinning disks).
