Thanks..
Looks like no one has come up with and explanation or solution.
Its not the end of the world.. I can live with it, if it really becomes a pain, I will not leave it plugged in to power and only connect power when I need it.

Quick Update... exactly 1 month after it shut down (to the hour/min) it turned itself back on again.
So wondering if it comes on to check for updates or something
So went to settings, there were only two options set re updates..
one was for update notifications... and one for hotfix updates..
So I turned both off... saved.. and have now shut down again..
Lets see if it turns on again in a months time now.

So now that you know its schedule, you can schedule a turn-off event a short time later.

No Joy... 1 Month on, it turns itself on again.
Oh well.. will live with it, or unplug it till I need it.- SandsharkOct 02, 2025Sensei - Experienced User
Unplugging it or putting it on some kind of switch (maybe a smart switch) is the best option if you don't use it often and it's easy enough to do. The NAS has an internal +3.3VSB (3.3V standby) power that's always on, even when the NAS is off. Failure of the standby voltage is a failure mode we do see here occasionally and is non-repairable. By unplugging it, then that circuit is not active, and it may extend the life of your NAS.
