RN10400 Hangs after brief use firmware version 6.6.0

Hi everybody!

Im hoping you have a solution to my issue.

I recently dug  my RN10400 it out of the cupboard, hoping to use the unit again.

However I have had some problems with the unit, that I hope you can help me with?

  1. The ready nas boots up ok. But once it has completed its boot process, it allows the Raid software to access it for a short time ( 5 min) before shutting down access. During this time, I am able to access the admin page of the drive, and check on the condition of the disks. Normally when this happens I get the following symptoms
    1. the LCD display on the drive, will not light up, no matter how many times I press the power button.
    2. Power light is illuminated.
    3. Drive 1 and 2 lights are illuminated
    4. Dct light is steady.
    5. No access to drive via, web, or Raid software
    6. Fan runs at full speed

The only solution to this is to perform a hard reset of the drive. To try and solve this I used the boot menu option to try and reinstall the OS firmware. This has made the drive “stay up” for longer. But after this period the symptoms I have are

    1. LCD light constantly illuminated displaying the ip address.
    2. Power button has no effect
    3. Raid software cannot access the drive
    4. Ip angry scanner software can see the drive.
    5. Google and Microsoft edge browsers both cannot access the drive, even though they were able to access the drive, during the first 5 – 10 min of its operation.

Is there any way I can gain constant access to the drive. Rather than having to force a reset every 5 to ten min?

Do i have a failing disk. the Raid software reports that the diagnostics are good. however i cant download the Diagnostic logs.

Thanks.. hoping someone has a solution to this.

regards

Tom

The best way to test the disk is to connect to a Windows PC (either sata or with a usb adapter/dock).  Then test it with vendor tools (seagate or lifeguard).
