- Mar 27, 2016An update to the tread. Amazon was able to send a replacement NAS and the new item works like its suppose to. I am in the process of returning the defective NAS to Amazon per their instructions. Thank you for all your assistance regarding my issue and looking forward to testing the boundaries with the new NAS. Kevin

Can you try disabling the anti-virus service and see if this helps?
- Geekboy1990Mar 03, 2016AspirantI disabled the antivirus. I even turned off all services except for SMB, HTTP and HTTPS. There is no change. The fan was doing this before I updated the firmware as well. I think it was at 6.3.2 according to the sticker on the back.

The logs show us telling the fan to spin at 800RPM, but it can't. This is definitely bad hardware. There's likely a defect on the backplane.
