RN212 v6.10.5 Hot Fix 1- Antivirus Scanner Failed to Update

Antivirus scanner definition file update failed due to download failure. Check your Internet connection.

The last update was 10/28/2020

I've read previous threads of users uploading the latest firmware however, that did not work for me. I also attempted to enable and renable the Virus Scanner and that did not work.

  • Do you know what is causing all those service restart messages? They aren't normal.

How full is the OS partition (not the data volume)?

@ StephenB, My guess is the reported error (ReadyNASOS service or process was restarted) has everything to do with the failing "antivirus scanner definition file update" and probably caused by consuming all the memory by the virus update process. I got the same errors when I encounter this issue.

@ jcontech, are you sure your upgrade to 6.10.5 or 6.10.5-hotfix1 went OK? Did you check your system.log-file and systemd-journal.log-file if the upgrade went OK?
Also here I encounter once an issue, the upgrade didn't go OK, but in the log via the webgui (tab SYSTEM - option LOGS) as well as in the main-overview (tab SYSTEM - option OVERVIEW) the new version was reported. So it looked like the upgrade was done correctly.
I downgraded my NAS to the previous version and automatically my system was upgraded again to the latest version correctly... and after that my virus-update-issue was solved.

An alternative could be do a scheduled manual update of the virus-def via the crontab

      hopes it helps, regards

Quite possible, though I'd add a full OS partition might also be a cause.
