Failing a repair, does anyone know whether it is possible to buy replacement boards? Seems a shame to bin the whole NAS for want of a main board.
Have you checked the warranty status? It's three years for the original purchaser.

Thank you both for your replys. Unfortunately it's around 4 years old so out of warranty. Regarding getting logs and pinging, I don't think it gets far wnough throught he boot process to start the ssh daemon although I might give it another go just to see what comes up. Re. ping, no it doesn't respond to pings once it hangs.
The reason for wanting to reset the CMOS was incase it had become corrupted, this can happen when the battery gets old as old batteries don't just drop in voltage but can become noisy and so can corrupt the bios. I've had this occure on PCs in the past, the last time being with my Dell laptop where power management became got corrupted and the thing became too hot to touch and switched off. A CMOS clearout and new battery cured it however, it's also not too uncommon to have to reset the PRAM on macbooks for example. Just thought it worth a go in this instance but if not possible then I'll look elsewhere. Thanks again all for your replies, appreciated.
