RND2000-200 Not listed in Compatibility list?
Hello People
I've been away from the forum for a long while and I'm rusty. I've purchased a RND2000-200 v2 2nd hand as my previous Nas died over a year ago and I've just not had a chance to do bugger all about it.
I've looked at the official Hardware compatible list, trying to familiarize myself with what's official etc....But I can't see "RND2000" listed in the drop down tab. Or "RND2150" etc...
What there seems to be is a "RN2120" in the drop down list.
So where would I look in the official hardware list for the "RND2000-200"?
Has it's support been discontinued?
Or I'm correct in thinking it would come under the "RN2120" tab in the drop down tab? (as it's the only thing resembling something similar)

Got a question. My old nas hdd is coming from Duo v1 sparc.
If I got hold of a v1 sparc, would I be able to install the hdd's into it and it should read the info?
Obviously need a Duo sparc, can't with the newer v2's as they're Arm etc...
As looking at the data I've got through the recovery programs is just damn painful.
If I'm correct there, how do I add the hdd without a resync?
I've had a similar situation before where I unloaded my hdd's and realised I was in bother. Mdgm got me out of trouble last time, although made me work for it.
If I was to add a hdd into the nas with it powered off then powered up, but had raidar on to check there's no resync, would that be the correct way to go?
If so, does it matter whever I use bay 1 or bay 2 from old nas setup? Either hdd, 1 or 2?
I actually had to do it with bay 2 last time as I'd messed up bay 1. Kept the bay 2 to it's bay 2 in the reinstall, made sure I didn't put it in bay 1 etc..,.and the nas actually booted up and no resync. Everything was then fine. Added another hdd to bay 1 on a hot swap/add with the nas already on forcing it to resync with the already working hdd in bay 2.
Let me know whever I'm right here or not please.
I might bite the bullet and try to acquire a sparc for this data recovery, as it would make life much easier.
I need to look at these recovery programs properly instead of being tired like last night. It looked painful. - chirpaLuminaryIf you got another sparc (duo or nv+ v1), inserting just that disk into it alone should let you access it. To be safe, you can use the Tech Support boot menu option on first boot and have mdgm or I take a look to verify the disk is intact.

Not sure I'll go that way yet. See how I get on with the recovery programs. See how hard or easy, fast or slow etc...
I'm guessing as long as the hdd is of a sparc format, then if placed in the nas in a powered down state, then when powered up the nas just thinks it's a native hdd and reads it as normal.
Confirm my theory there when you get a minute if you can please. - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredIt depends on various factor such as the state of the filesystem on the disks, the partitions etc.
Also things like the firmware version on the internal flash and the version on the disks.
Assuming everything is fine it should boot but if not what would happen could be a bit unpredictable. - Mutley1AspirantCheers mdgm
That was the info I needed to make a decision. I don't think I'll bother with acquiring a sparc. Already spent enough lately, and for what I'm not sure yet.
Started this task and man....you'd never guess the work involved. Had to completely pull the front room around to fit in another table/work station for the windows machine. Which involved acquiring another table, and parts needed to solve the original conundrum. Spent hours/days just setting all this crap up, so that the environment works.
I'm rusty with windows, it's not as fast as my newer imac, dancing between every disk format known to man and geek. Taking 2 steps forward, 1 step back.
It's just aswell I like the challenge.
And after the simplistic life of Mac, Windows is defo a challenge. Every minute it's a bombardment of invasion with Windows, whever it's marketing or the real thing (viruses and spam). Had 5 years free of that with Mac.
Out there you have the Mac people and you have the Windows gang and there's a good argument for either, ....probably.
But you just can't beat '"no aggro"........for me, mac wins. - Mutley1AspirantMind you, saying that...
You just can't buy a new Mac on the cheap.
Money....all comes down to money.
