RND4210 Powerunit defect, will disks with data work in RNDP2000?
Hi,
i have a RND4210v3 where the powersupply got smokked. I have a spare RNDP2000. Will this NAS find the disks and see the stored data?
If not.... how can we get the data from the disks?
Thanks,
Rogier

No, it will not. Your RND4210v3 is an NV+ v1, and it uses a different process and a different RAID organization than the ReadyNAS Pro-2.

If the NV+ is using XRAID and has only 2 disks installed, then you can connect the data disk (usually disk 1) to a windows PC via USB or SATA, and access the data with linux reader. http://www.diskinternals.com/linux-reader/
It is possible to mount the RAID volume in an x86 linux system - there is a guide here: http://home.bott.ca/webserver/?p=306
If you are intending to replace the NAS with a new OS6 model, you could contact support and see if they can assist in migration.
There are a couple of hardware options also:
You can also contact Netgear support and see if you can get a replacement power supply. Warranty was generally 5 years, so it may fact still be under warranty. I've been told that in some geographies Netgear might offer to sell a replacement PSU (I suspect it depends on local inventory levels). There are some replacement PSUs available from resellers, though some are very expensive.
It is possible to use a standard ATX supply (leaving it outside the NAS chassis), though you do need to change the pinout (best done with a 24-pin extension cable).
You could also find a used NV+ v1 and either migrate the disks to the whole unit, or swap the power supplies. If you have 2 disks installed, a used duo v1 should also work. If you pursue this option, you need to be very careful to get a v1 (sparc-based) unit. Also, some used ReadyNAS aren't functional, so there is some risk here.

If you go with an OS6 NAS e.g. RN314, then you should have a read of http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/29875/~/readynas%3A-migrating-disks-from-raidiator-to-os-6
That article explains what we will need for attempting data recovery from an array taken from a RAIDiator 4 (Sparc) system such as yours.
