As for the Pro 4 it can handle 3TB drives. If you get 3TB drives put one in the Pro 4. If it comes with 4.2.15 or earlier firmware then likely the disk will be recognised as having <1TB of capacity. Update the firmware to the latest version, verify update was successful, then power down, put the rest of the disks in and do a factory default (http://www.readynas.com/kb/faq/boot/how_do_i_use_the_boot_menu). Doing this will give a clean setup on the latest firmware and the full capacity of the 3TB disks will be recognised.
Thanks for the quick reply. I am aware my NV+ v1 is maxed out. But despite this actual 5.6TB, my experience learned me 4x2TB can be enough for my new PRO 4 NAS. But considering the prices mentioned above, I don't really know what to buy. 2TB vs. 3TB drives. And what brand. Because of the money I am thinking about buying 2xHD204's and 2x7K3000's from different stores. Is this a good choice, considering the quality of the hardware? Does anyone have any experience with these drives and the PRO 4?
Kind Regards,
Alfie
