RNDP6000-200 - diskless -200 version model. When can we buy?
The product sheet for the ReadyNAS Pro 6 lists the RNDP6000-200, a diskless model of the new ReadyNAS Pro 6. This is, apparently, not to be confused with the RNDP6000 (no -200 suffix), which is listed as a transition product. Both share a 5 year warranty, but the -200 lists better throughput and a newer CPU.

The diskless unit isn't for sale anywhere, only units with disks included at what seem to be premium prices. Has anyone seen an availability date for the diskless version? Failing that, any predictions based on past releases?

- PapaBear1ApprenticePart of the confusion stems from the fact that when the RNDP6xxx-200 model replaced the -100 model, there was no 6000 diskless. However, customer demand prevailed and they started selling them that way several months later. But they have been available for a while.
Amazon has them for $970 selling them directly. They call it the ReadyNAS Pro 6 Unified. I don't know where the Unified came from, but it is the ReadyNAS Pro 6. They also have a listing selling it through Universal Mania for $934 with no shipping charge.
However, Newegg has it for $850 with free shipping. That is a very tempting offer. Very tempting indeed.
Edit update - Too tempting. BTW if you order it with a WD10EFRX its only $840 with free shipping. - mcgroarty1AspirantThe Amazon listing that comes up for a search on "rndp6000-200nas," as linked above, just says "RNDP6000" for the model number. Has anyone purchased that, and can you confirm you got the newer RNDP6000-200 model, not the original RNDP6000?
I prefer to buy from Amazon because of no hassle returns, should they make a mistake. But I'd like to avoid even having to go that far. :) - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredWell it's been the best part of a few years since the Pro 6 came out now so I doubt Amazon would still stock the old model. Anyway Amazon has a pretty good return policy, so in the highly unlikely event you got the Pro Business Edition rather than the Pro 6 you should be able to get it exchanged.
- PapaBear1ApprenticeI have always had good service from Newegg as well as Amazon. Since Newegg had such a good deal, and paid me $10 to take a hard drive with it, I finally dropped the hammer and ordered a Pro 6 Diskless.
Besides, the predecessor model the RNDP6000-100NAS was the Pro, the current model the RNDP6000-200NAS is called the Pro 6. Most customers would not know the difference between a -100NAS and a -200NAS but the description of Pro vs Pro 6 is understandable. - PapaBear1ApprenticeUpdate - the Newegg price is back up and the WD disk promo is gone. Today the Pro 6 is back up to $1150 and the WD10EFRX is $120 or a total of $1260 for the items they shipped to me on Friday for $840. Thank you mcgroarty for asking the question, for if you had not, I would not have looked up the items. I hope you were able to jump on the good price as well.
- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredNice purchase PapaBear! You got it for a great price.
- PapaBear1ApprenticeYeah, I could no longer resist at that price. It was basically a 33% discount from their prices today (for Pro 6 and 1 drives), just five days later. I could not believe the price with the drive was $10 less than the price without the drive. It arrived last night, and damn it's a big box. Very well packed, but then my NVX and NV+ units were as well. I won't be able to set it up until Monday, I just have too much on my plate until then.
That's two I have stumbled onto. I got my NVX BE on a real deal too.
