RNDP6000 Power Supply

My RNDP6000 Power Supply died and I'm looking to get a replacement, are there official replacement parts or do I have to look elsewhere? And if I have to look elsewhere any suggestions on what to get and need to replace it?

  • Netgear has never supplied parts or repair service outside of warranty (and that one extended power supply recall for NV+ units).  Your NAS uses an SFX (aka mini-ATX) format supply, and the original manufacturer no longer makes it.  While the original is 300W, the distribution of power is different from many, and I recommend you go with at least a 400W replacement.  You will also need an extender (typically 6") for the 24-pin ATX power connector and either a supply that already has 3 4-pin inline MOLEX connectors (like old hard drives used) or adapters for that.  SATA power to MOLEX usually work out better than Y cables for the existing connectors.

On the NAS supply, the fan protrudes and is centered.  Protruding doesn't matter, and some have had success with supplies with not quite centered fans, but I prefer centered.  Many replacements will have an input voltage selector switch rather than being universal, and that switch will become inaccessible when the supply is installed, so set it right.  Unfortunately, I do not have a specific brand/model I can recommend, as the last ones I bought are also now unavailable.  There is a seller on eBay that sells units that come with the right number of connectors and the extender, but I have not done business with them.

If all you need to do is recover data from the NAS and you plan to replace it, a standard ATX supply can be used externally.  Just seal the gap where the cables come out and cover the internal power supply fan or opening where it was as best you can to keep the main chassis fan pulling air over the drives.  Masking tape works fine.
