Hi I bought a used Readynas RNDU4000 and i tried to upgrade the FW to 6. Seems that something might have gone wrong and i can't figure out if it's possible to get it right again. When i try to ...

It'd be helpful to know what you actually did. The prep add-on just avoids the need to manually do a factory default after you do the install.

A factory default is definitely needed (whether automatically done by the prep add-on or manually). You could try it again.
What do you see when you boot up the Ultra diskless?

This hould be the guide i followed, so i did use the prep add-on:
https://blah.cloud/just-for-fun/upgrading-a-legacy-readynas-from-raidiator-4-2-x-to-6-2-x/
When i try to start without disk i get:
ERR: Firmware checksum error
And when i try to factory reset i get 2 errors:
ERR: could not create volume
ERR: registering data filesystem
I have also tried to make a USB recovery to see if that would help, but can't create it.
Tried on 2 different computers but the usbrecovery.exe gives me errors.
Not sure if the translation is correct " side by side configuration is incorrect"

That's a pretty old link, but looks correct. Once you get past this, you should upgrade the memory to 2 GB. Most have found that 1 GB is no longer enough for OS-6.
The instructions we generally give here now are:
- BACKUP, BACKUP, BACKUP
- Upload PREPR4TOR6_0.1-x86.bin as an add-on using the ReadyNAS web gui, but do not reboot afterwards (avoids the need to do manual factory resets)
- Upload R4toR6_6.9.5.bin using the ReadyNAS web gui firmware update
- After you upload the addon+firmware and reboot, it will update the firmware and start a factory default.
- Go through the setup process on the converted NAS
- Update the NAS to the current OS 6 (check for updates will work).
- Restore files from the backup.
Though I'd skip step 6 at the moment, as 6.10.5 has some issues.

Did you build the r4tor6 binary yourself, or did you use the prebuilt one?

I'm not recognizing that error. But try running it with elevated privileges. Note you do need to use the USB recovery for 4.2 systems (though I think you should use the r4tor6 binary). https://kb.netgear.com/30267/RAIDiator-4-2-USB-Recovery-Tool
