FWIW, the current release is now 6.10.7... Personally I am a bit cautious on 6.10.7 at this point.
There's no one-size-fits-all answer to this. Generally I will keep up (after waiting a bit to see if any issues are posted in the forum on new firmware). Others stick with the long-term-stable release until that changes.

Not sure if the bug fixes apply to you or not. All of these releases also have security fixes (unfortunately the underlying security issues aren't identified).
