Seagate Expansion USB 3.0 not recognized
Hi,
I just got a Seagate Expansion external USB 3.0 drive and it doesn't seem to be recognized (no device under USB Storage Devices in the Frontpanel). I heard there may be some incompatibility with some USB 3.0 chipsets. Is that something a future RAIDiator update could fix?
In case it helps, here are logs:

- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredWhich ReadyNAS is this with?
What version of RAIDiator? - m_stolleAspirantOh, sorry, should've mentioned: This is on an Ultra 4 Plus.
- m_stolleAspirantRAIDiator version: 4.2.19
- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredDoes this drive have it's own power cable? If not have you tried connecting it via a USB hub with its own power cable?
- m_stolleAspirantIt came with its own AC Adapter, which I am using. It's a desktop-sized enclosure (presumably a 3.5" drive)
- m_stolleAspirantOk update: it works on the front part, but neither of the two rear ports? I guess I don't have to return it, but it would be nicer if it worked on the rear ports as well... Any possibility of this being fixed in a future update?
- The rear USB port only support USB2.0
- m_stolleAspirantAFAIK, none of the ports on the Ultra 4 support USB 2.0. Also, USB 3.0 is backward compatible with USB 2.0, so as long as I am ok with USB 2.0 speeds (which I am), this shouldn't be problem (it certainly shouldn't cause the drive not to be usable at all)
- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee Retired??? All of the ports on the Ultra 4 are USB 2.0.
As for USB 3 compatibility it does depend on various factors such as the chipset used etc. Not all drives are compatible.
