I was just about to back up my NAS and try to get an RMA for my three CC32 drives and after hearing Nermal’s story, I’m a bit concerned.

at this point it doesnt look good for any update for the cc32 drives. its just too old.
instead customers are advised to rma their cc32 drives with seagate and specifically request cc3c drives in return. you need to mention in the rma process that cc32 contains a bug that will make the disk hang and drop out of raid until reboot. if you dont do that you may get your old drive back because it passes seagates automated function-tests.
Is it enough to just say what you stated in your previous post quoted above? Should we reference this thread? Is there a case number on file with Seagate that we can reference to convince them to accept the RMA?
Thanks,
Dave
its the info we got from seagate. there will probably never be an update for the cc32 drives. seagate said affected customers should instead go for rma with seagate and specifically state that they need a replacementdrive with cc3c or newer since cc32 contains a bug that will make it drop in raid environments.
unfortunately i dont have any additional info from seagate at the moment.
sure you can try to reference this thread, but seagate should be able to verify this info internally so it should not be necessary.
