Security Bug in Backups remote Password visible.
Hello, I have just purchased a readynas 104 to replace an aging Netgear Stora and while checking out the features I have come across an issue where your password is shown in clear text therefore giving access to stored passwords when using remote connections as your destinations.
Hopefully someone else can confirm this issue so it can be raised to Netgear.
The way to replicate the issue is to create a backup job.
In destinations
Type:Remote
Name:Windows or Rsync over SSH
Enter your hostname and user / password. Test connection and save.
Then edit the job and change the destination to
Type:Home
Name:Home:Homeuser
Save (click ok)
Then edit again. Go into destination and there is your password to the remote systems on full show in front of the dots of the hidden password.
