Syncing readyNAS 104

I have done a factory reset as my cat pulled the power cable out of the unit. Lost all data!  No real problem as I have numerious backups using different media.  The system has 4 X 4Tb drives but the sync tells me there is 77,000 plus hours to complete.  I think I should have re formatted the disks. This is NOT a critical system and was purchased to give me the oportunity to learn about NAS.  I will be trying different brands of HDD's and later try some SSD's to see what happens.  Main problem today is WHAT is causing such an extended sync time?

Support could have had a look into that problem before you did the factory reset but there would have been some fees involved. Glad you had a backup.

Have you checked the SMART stats to check for clues of a bad disk?

The initial estimate for how long a sync will take can be a massive overestimate of how long it will take. Is it still showing such a huge amount of time to complete?

Using SSDs would make more sense in a more powerful NAS unit. The RN104 is a cost effective model.
