Upgrade from 6.5.1 with shares to 6.9.1 doesn't add 6.9.1 features to shares.
I upgraded the firmware on my readynas pro 6 drive system (OS 6.5.1) to OS 6.9.1, latest as of 12/30/2017.
The 6.5.1 apparently doesn't support nfs root squash, and I want that feature to fix some NFS permissions problems created when mirroring my drives via NFS.
I realize the databases readynas supporrts are probably different between 6.5.1 and 6.9.1, but the root squash is not added. "Enable Async" is still the only feature on the page.
I had wiped the second drive I have and let it upgrade, it was a new install.. I'm not really anxious to wipe and mirror to this drive from my new subsystem at this point till I understand this.
The master data is on a Readynas Ultra 4 system with an ailing drive, so I don't want to be to one single copy between these three systems.
Also I only had the information on the front page to determine my Readynas product information. (Says Readynas Pro). I can't get into the rats nest to turn the system upside down to read the information off the box, as I've got 10 all packed in together. If there is a place in the gui for complete product info readout, or if I could take the serial number and go to an online database I'd be glad to do that.

I'm not completely sure I'm following you.
I think you are saying that you have successfully upgraded your pro to OS 6.9.1, but you are not seeing the user id mapping options (including Squash) on the advanced NFS settings for your shares. Is that correct?
Yes. The 6.5.1 firmware has no support for the NFS root squash function in the gui. I am guessing because it is Linux that the feature exists for manually configured nfs shares in the OS.
When you use the 6.5.1 gui, Shares, NFS, Advanced, you only see the Async option on / off.When you use a freshly installed 6.9.1 gui, same place, you also see an option to control the Root Squash as well a the async option.

I created a new share, added nfs, and that share on the updated system also has no root squash.
Root squash for those reading (I'm sure you know) allows one to map root accesses from systems writing to the share to a different ID, so you cannot create root owned files on the share. All such writes by root users are mapped typically to "nobody" on the NAS share.
I'm trying to turn if off to exactly duplicate a volume which has a mess of user id settings on the shares, so that the root owned files and directories on the target are written to the new volume correctly.
most of the discussions include "why do you need NFS". I need it.

Clear your browser cache and try again.
If that doesn't help, then try over-installing 6.9.1/ That is download and unzip it from https://kb.netgear.com/000051531/ReadyNAS-OS-6-Software-Version-6-9-1, then manually install it from system->settings.
