Upgrade Pro6 to RN626X
My Pro6 (w/ OS6) is starting to have issues (again). It looks like a firmware issue where it just disappears and nothing specific in the logs. The box is old enough that it's probably not worth spending the time to fix the issue and then have a new one pop up.
I'm looking at just moving the drives into a new box and looking at the RN626. Any comments good or bad on the box? And since I'm running OS6, from what I've read, it looks like I should be able to just plug my existing drives in and go from there. Is that true or did I miss anyones horror stories? (I'll have a backup of anythingI really need to have.)
Thx

Is this a box you will buy or have already?
It seems this NAS is EOL now:
Given this is the highest end desktop model, it might indicate that more models are going EOL soon. Apparently, it is almost impossible to buy a ReadyNAS these days.

When you say "it disappears", do you mean the NAS disappears from the network, or something else? Have you tried both Ethernet ports? That can be a sign of a failing power supply, as the LAN and on/off circuitry use a dedicated power source (+5VSB) within the supply that's always on unless the unit is unplugged or off via the rear switch. Being on all the time, it's a common initial failure of the supply.

No, not a NIC issue. Looks like the unit just freezes up with nothing in the logs, so no real direction even if I wanted to fix it.
Tried reloading the FW without any change. Could be a memory or processor issue but not sure it's worth the time to try and trouble shoot the issue. If I had some free time then maybe.
