Upgrade to new NAS
Hi,
I mistakenly purchased 2 x 4TB Seagate Ironwolf hdd`s to replace 2 almost full 1TB disks in my Duo (RND2000v2). Had I read the forums more fully I would have realised that I have exceeded the maximum allowed for this model,(the v2 on the label on the back of the unit misled me).
So now I have 2 x 4TB drives that have synced and are sitting quite happily but are not showing their full capacity for obvious reasons.
Is it possible to purchase a new Netgear NAS and just take the drives out and install them into the new unit or is it a bit more complicated than that.
Any advice would be gratefully received.

You'd have to resync them (and in the process, the system would reformat them).

Best to call your NAS a Duo v1 here.
Thanks for that, a rather expensive mistake on my part. I will probably back the existing files up to a spare drive, buy a new unit and let it resync the 4TB drives and then copy the files from the spare drive back over.
Does that sound feasable or is there another way?

It sounds feasible. You can also shut down, and power up with one of the original drives installed. Then hot-install the second 1 TB drive and it will resync. That would get you back to where you were. Then later on you can also copy the files over the network (for instance, using the backup job facility in frontview).
You could also exchange the drives for 2 TB models, which would be compatible.
