Using 3rd Party TV Tuners

Hi,

 

Can someone provide some information as to why 3rd party TV Tuners are not supported/do not work with the Readynas? I see its possible to compile firmware etc but I do not understand why it requires a kernel recompliation ?

 

I just wanted some information around this and why its not possible to install new drivers?

 

Details on doing so would be great also!

 

I know vendors like DVBLogic etc can compile them inside the app if requested but how do they do this at app level?

 

I've built my own apps for Readynas before, so can I do this myself?
