"There's no easy way way to convert a Yahoo widget into a Vista gadget because Yahoo widgets don't use HTML (they use a proprietary XML format). You could conceivable do this brute force by looking the the Yahoo widget's source code and rewriting it for Vista, using the same image resources, but that is probably a difficult task.
There is a way to automatically convert Google web gadgets into Vista gadgets (using Amnesty Generator) so if you can find a gadget that is similar to the Yahoo widget you want, that may be an option for you.

- RasmonAspirantI would really like a Vista Gadget for my ReadyNAS! Any idea if there is one in the works?
I found a site that describes how to create a Vista Gadget. I am not all that familiar with VBScript, but the concept looks simple enough. From the look of it, all you need is a manifest file, some html with the script, and the graphics. I also found a site for Authoring Sidebar Gadgets in C#. My guess is that someone could manually review what's provided for the Yahoo Widget and use that to make a Vista Gadget, but I don't think my skills are up to that task just yet. Maybe someone will take what I found and run with it. :) - dmviperAspirantCount me in too for the Vista Gadget. Nice to have stuff on the screen when you need it, but as with anything you can disable it when you want to reduce network traffic.
