WD Easystore  " White Label" what type of drive is this?  WDBCKA0080HBK

Are these like mystery drive that no one know exactly what type of drive is behind it or are they a particular type of drive?

This was in one of those external HD from Western digitral.

Thanks.

    Hi miogpsrocks

Checking on the drives, they all say it's the same with the WD Reds in anyway. The only issue with the Whites would be the 3.3v issue and alteration on the plug for it to spin up. Read it here.

You might want to check this discussion from a different forum where they remove the drives to use it on their NAS/FreeNAS. Personally I would not recommend usng an OEM drive that is specifically made for their internal enclosure but of course the price difference is what makes them go for it rather than purchasing the WD Reds.

Other members might also have experienced using the white drives so waiting for their feed backs is also a good idea.

    Hope this helps!

    Regards
