Some things to check when moving the USB drive from your Windows machine to ReadyNAS. When you were removing the drive from the computer, did you safely remove the drive? (or umount the drive from the Windows machine?) I have seen some cases where the USB drive was removed (unsafely) and the USB drive would have a flag to not mount and in some cases mount as read-only.
