Just installed a week ago two in a 2-bay Readynas Ultra 2 and they are working fine. These WD Reds run almost inaudible and head movements are not noticeable, in contrast to my older WD RE2 - Greens that were already quite silent. During the resync process when initialising, data transfer was at 130 MB/s to 70 MB/s which is up to the limits of these disks (they are faster at the beginning of the platters than on the end as with any HDD).
So if you consider these disks for a SPARC based nas, I would strongly suggest to upgrade to the newer and much faster I86 series. The 2-bay Readynas Ultra is the same size as the old DUO but much faster and almost inaudible with the Reds.
