Better yet, you should be backing up your NAS (via usb) to a portable HD which can be removed off site. The backup will be in windows format so you can read it with your PC or Mac.
The NAS will come with a backup application to do this and it works really well for doing these back ups to a portable USB HD
On our NAS we use it to store data, movies and tunes in different directories.
We also have a set of directories to do unencrypted bare metal back ups of the PC's. To backup my PC's I prefer QuicklyTec Quick Shadow which will back up to the NAS
You NAS is not really a backup, but a place to store data that has redundant HD's. You should back up you NAS in case there is a fire. flood, electrical surge .....
