Cannot Install ReadyNAS Photo Desktop
RAIDar 4.1.7
ReadyNAS Photos v2.2
Windows XP
I'm receiving an error during the install and instructed to delete the Dekoh directory and try again. I've tried using the new release of the Desktop software as well and am receiving the same error. I've tried disabling any virus software and Windows Firewalls.
Any other suggestions?

- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredReadyNAS Photos I was run by an external service and became too expensive. The external servers the service relied on have been shutdown. The EOL announcement is here: http://www.readynas.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=58&t=60875
Unfortunately the new ReadyNAS Photos II was unable to be ported successfully to Sparc ReadyNAS systems. ReadyNAS Photos II has many improvements over Photos I and relies on a NetGear server. - NGNadaAspirantYou can tell when a company appreciates their customers by the updates and enhancements of their product line. THIS company is not one of them  I bought the ReadyNAS NV+ a couple of years ago. It looked to be a device of the future and it could have been provided NG had programmers that knew what they were doing. Instead of playing Star Wars games, they need to get into action and actually support the products they are actively selling. ReadyNAS Photos has been an utter disappointment. I was able to use it at first, but they started having issues with it and their customers. Instead of digging in and figuring it out, they back away and discontinue its support. I had high hopes for this product, but this will be my last Netgear product. This is what happens when big companies buy small companies with talent, they take over their products and drive them in the ground.
- FatheadAspirantI have the same problems with others. I'm using Win7, ReadyNAS Duo, RAIDiator 4.1.8, install.log has got nothing inside. I cannot uninstall previous installation.
Can ReadyNAS support help. - jl319AspirantI had a similar experience trying to install the original (v1.1) on Windows 7 (I have an NV+ which is apparently not supported with Photos II). Install got about 95% done then crapped out. Uninstall wouldn't work. No "install.log" was created (sorry, Minerva). Here's what worked for me tonight to install it:
1. I did a System Restore (ALWAYS create a restore point before installing new software, just in case)
2. I deleted the C:\dekoh directory
3. I downloaded and saved (without running) the installer from http://www.readynas.com/?page_id=61
4. BEFORE running the installer, I right clicked on properties, went into compatabilty options, and changed compatabilty mode to Windows XP Service Pack 3.
5. I ran the installer again. I thought it had hung at the same place, but after about 20 seconds, viola, the install completed!
That's the good news. Now the bad news. This program was apparently designed for Windows XP/2000. MOST things appeared to work, but one critical part did not - the SHARE option would not work under Windows 7. (reported some weird javascript error).
I was fortunate enough to have another PC in the house with XP. It successfully installed the first time (though it failed to create icons to run it - had to manually run C:\dekoh\bin\readynas.exe to create those). Everything seems to be working on that machine. - minervaAspirantHi Jimk,
Can you try installing ReadyNAS photos application by downloading the ReadyNASPhotosInstaller.jar file and double clicking on it, from the below url:

-Minerva. - minervaAspirantCan you send the install.log located under C:\Dekoh folder?
Sending you a PM with email address.
-Minerva - smithcorpAspirantHi, just got a ReadyNAS Duo and having the same problem trying to install the ReadyNAS photo desktop software. I saved the install.log before deleting the Dekoh folder.
- minervaAspirantCould you please send the install.log located under C:\Dekoh folder?

-Minerva - jimk1AspirantLikewise, I got 75% through the install and the install hung. I terminated, tried to uninstall which failed after about 6%, then tried to reinstall and got the dreaded error, "A newer or identical version of ReadyNAS Photos is already installed..." Any success on this yet? Running WinXP Pro with a copy of Java 1.6 already installed elsewhere.
- HaderenAspirantI couldn't install Readynas photos as well (problem with java services). However, I'm running Win7 x64 and only did a Java 32 bit install (mostly because of bad 64 bit Java support for homebanking). I did a 64 bit Java install (the two versions are by default in separate folders), and install went flawless. NAS is Readynas NV+ 4.1.7.
