Create two logical groups using Flex-RAID

Hi,

I got two hard disc drives from different vendors with about 1TB and i do not want to mirror them but expand the available disc space.

I do not want to group both discs into one logical volume to reduce data lose if one of the discs fails.

I did a factory reset with only one disc (using two disc during factory reset would result in one logical volume)

When adding the disc, its recognised, but I can't access it as share. I also do not see any mount points.

What is the next step to create a new logical volume for the second HDD? I tried for example:

mdconfig -a new -m /dev/md3 -l 0 -c 64 -r /dev/hde1 -s 0
device : /dev/md3
level : 0
chunk-size : 64
raid-disk : /dev/hde1
spare-disk : 0
ioctl(ADD_NEW_DISK): Device or resource busy

But the disc is always busy, although its not mounted!

How can I proceed on this?

I'm working on a ReadyNAS duo v1 (however I can't find it in Associated Products)

Yes, I picked  Flex-RAID but second disc does not show up as allocated and neither can't I access it from a mount point. I didn't find a section in the manual which discusses separated logical groups with Flex-Raid

I'm sure one of the Guru's will be along shortly.  In the meantime, looks like you do that from within Frontview (the Webui).  Page 20 lists the steps.  If you already have a volume with the 1st disk, you use Frontview to create a new volume on the 2nd disk.

Just to be sure, what version of RAIDiator are you on?  4.1.16 is the last one published.  Are you able to access the Admin page?

When I add to my nas the second disc:

The manual states I should select "add Volume" but there is no button for that.

      I', running RAIDiator 4.1.16 [1.00a043]
